Objectives:

Students will determine factors that
led to the growth of a modern economy (agricultural improvements, trade,
guilds, rise of a merchant class, rise of towns).
2.
Students will analyze the effects of
trade on the diffusion of culture.

Letter Partners: Students
are to pair up and read a designated section of the chapter. Each partner reads
a different section. (Read pages 48-50) Students then write a letter to their
partner describing their designated sections. Partners can write back asking
any additional questions. (Keep in mind the checkpoint questions) Sections:
"A Commercial Revolution" and "The Rise of the Middle
Class"
3.
Exit Ticket: 1. Describe
three changes of the commercial revolution. 2. Why were guilds important in
town life?
