Aim: In the first two decades of the Cold War, how did competition on the international stage and a climate of fear at home affect politics, soviet, and culture in the United States?

1. Review Journal 142 / A: While containment in Europe was accomplished by financial support, containment in Asia took the form of both financial and military support. The United States devoted money and troops to fight communism on the Korean peninsula and in Vietnam. 

*It is important that you understand why the United States developed a foreign policy based on containment.
