     A. Review chart on page 149 > Women and enslaved Americans challenged white, property-holding men to acknowledge their rights under the nascent democracy. In this climate, movements for religious freedom, gender equality, and emancipation emerged.

     D. This section supports Learning Objective NAT-1.0, which asks students to analyze how concepts of national identity were conveyed in the political institutions and cultural values of this period. 3. Causation: Create a T-Chart, label it "British Action / Colonial Reaction" comparing rationale behind the various acts of Parliament and the American response to them. Using this diagram, identify and compare basic causes and effects and distinguish between short-and long-term causes and effects.
